Parklife 2024 - Saturday 8 June and Sunday 9 June 2024
Official Designated Pick Up/Drop off for Private Hire Vehicles.
Dear Licence Holder,
This year's Parklife Event will take place at Heaton Park on Saturday 8 June and Sunday 9 June.
The event has a finish time of no later 23-00hrs to comply with the licence conditions but could finish earlier to make sure there is no overrun.
There will again be no Hackney Carriage or Private Hire pick up facilities inside the park this year. This is due to the problems getting vehicles in and out of the park at peak egress.
Where can booked private hire pick up?
As in previous years, Sainsbury’s Supermarket located on Heaton Park Road has been designated again as the official pick up and drop off point for all pre booked private hire (and non MCC Hackneys) and general private vehicles, for both ingress and egress.
This pick up/drop off point will be signposted, the car park will be organised into clearly marked bays and Marshals will be in attendance to ensure that the facility runs as efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to use the car park itself and not to drop off and pick up at the small roundabout in front of the superstore in particular and other adjacent roads as this will cause un-necessary congestion and inconvenience to other vehicles and interfere with the smooth running of operation in the Superstore car park.
Can Operators please ensure they direct their customers and drivers to use the superstore for all pick up and drop offs. The Superstore car park will remain open after the store shuts so the pick up/drop off facility can be maintained for the egress phase.
There will be a number of road closures around the park during the egress phase of the event and the Superstore will remain outside of those and accessible at all times.
What will MCC Licensing Officers be doing?
We will be working throughout the whole evening to ensure the arrangements are running as smoothly as possible and to assist in dealing with any issues, as well as enforcing against any illegal ply for hire. GMP are dedicating traffic officers to work with Manchester, Bury and Rochdale enforcement officers to focus on illegal plying.
Road Closures
these will be similar to last year's event and have been implemented to reduce the risks associated with pick-ups near the motorway, create better routes for shuttle buses and improve pedestrian safety. Routes will be signposted and traffic Marshalls deployed, please follow the directions given.
Of particular note, on both Sat 8 and Sun 9 June
19:00hrs to 02:00hrs:
M60 Junction 19, all entrances and exits closed except for anti clockwise slip road onto the M60 Motorway.
Middleton Road will be closed to all traffic from its jct with Heywood Old Road to its jct with Sheepfoot Lane.
20-00 to 01-00hrs:
Middleton Road from its jct with Victoria Avenue to its jct with Crumpsall Lane [both directions]
Sheepfoot Lane from its jct with Middleton Road to its jct with Bury Old Road [both directions]
Blackley New Road from its jct with Middleton Road to its jct with Riverdale Road [both directions, except Manchester Licenced Hackney Carriages].
Meade Hill Road from its jct with Sheepfoot Lane to its jct with Middleton Road [both directions]
One Way Direction 19-00hrs to 02-00hrs
Victoria Avenue - open to west bound traffic only from its jct with Tweedle Hill Road to its jct with Middleton Road, providing access to the Sainsburies pick up.
Thank you for your cooperation.
