IMPORTANT SERVICE UPDATE: Vehicle test bookings
Dear Licence holder
The way you contact the Licensing Service for vehicle test bookings is changing. Please take a moment to read through the changes below.
What is changing?
Licensing has bought a new business system that will have the functionality for our customers to book and rearrange their vehicle tests online using a customer account. Unfortunately the implementation of this system has been delayed and is currently scheduled for mid-May 2024 (further details to be announced soon). Our customer contact centre is also changing their business system and will no longer be able to deal with vehicle test bookings on behalf of Licensing.
When is the change happening?
Licensing will be taking direct calls for vehicle test bookings ONLY from 9am on Thursday 11th April 2024.
Please note this is only for a short period of time until we move to our new online booking system in May.
How can I book or rearrange a vehicle test?
Starting 9am on 11th April - to book or rearrange a vehicle test please call 0161 234 1399
The dedicated phone line will be operated from 9am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday
Can I use this number for other queries?
No. Normal application queries will be dealt with as usual via email or officers calling customers directly. This dedicated vehicle test booking line must be kept available for test bookings only due to the volume of calls anticipated and the need for officer resources to be managed effectively. Officers have been instructed to politely advise customers to email their query if it is not with regards to a vehicle test booking.
What will happen if someone hasn’t seen this message and calls the contact centre?
Our contact centre colleagues will assist customers and either redirect the call or provide the new phone number – but they won’t have access to the vehicle test booking data to be able to take bookings.
