Uber gets green light to operate in Hull as licence approved
Opinions were divided on whether to grant Uber a licence, with some saying Hull is crying out for it while others said the city was not ready
Uber is set to launch fully in Hull and is now looking for some 250 drivers after its bid for a licence was approved today (Monday, February 12).
Hull City Council's Licensing Committee approved the app-based ride hailing firm's application for a private hire licence this morning. Uber's Head of Cities Matthew Freckleton told councillors the application came as part of a wider expansion into new towns and cities across the UK.
