Dear Licence Holders,
Following the intervention of the Licensing Unit together with support of the Chair of Licensing, Councillor Grimshaw, agreement has been reached to replace the existing barriers on Peter Street outside the Albert Hall with an alternative design that allows a re-alignment to take place which will have the effect of increasing the road width available at this location. This change will allow the rank space on the opposite side of the road, that was lost when the current barrier was installed, to be reinstated. It is planned for the new barriers to be installed week commencing 29 January 2024 and this work should take 2 weeks to complete, as long as there are no unforeseen complications. As part of this work road markings will be re aligned to take account of the additional road width that will be created and this will include reinstating the Taxi rank markings that were removed to accommodate the current barriers.
This means once the new barriers have been installed, road markings re aligned and replaced, the taxi rank will be brought back into use.
Thank you for your patience whilst the negotiations to resolve this issue have been taking place.
