Bank Holiday , Monday 8th. May. Or is it ? The meters were chipped before the Coronation date was confirmed. As a result all taxi meters are showing that as from 6am this morning your meter will be running on tariff 1 , when it should actually be running on tariff 3 . The last time this happened ā Licensing ā produced an official looking sheet that you could show passengers before commencing your journey that an additional one third could be added to the metered fare bringing tariff one to tariff three . Today we have nothing . Is this an oversight by a licensing department that puts many drivers in an embarrassing position of having to explain the increase. Drivers are able to charge extra for choosing to work this day and Iām presuming that anybody working for licensing will be paid extra for working a bank holiday. It really beggars belief that this simple task of producing an explanation sheet that drivers can show passengers is not available from a department that pays its employees substantial salaries and provides gold plated pensions .
