A24-year-old taxi service worker is in custody on charges of rape and sex abuse of a minor, according to information from Montgomery County police.
On Monday, January 2, officers were called to a Silver Spring residence for a report of a rape. Around 3 a.m., a girl contacted a taxi service to take her to a location outside of Montgomery County to meet with a friend, according to authorities.
Moments later, officials said Orlin Martinez Orellana, 24, picked up the the girl and drove her to the location. Upon their arrival, she determined that her friend was not going to meet with her, according to a police report.
The victim asked Martinez Orellana to take her back to her residence. He refused to comply with her demands and took her, against her will, to his residence in Silver Spring, police said. Once inside, authorities said Martinez Orellana raped her.
On Friday, detectives found Martinez Orellana in the 11500 block of Georgia Ave. He was interviewed by detectives and reportedly made statements about his involvement in the crime.
He was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was charged with rape and sex abuse of a minor and is being held without bond.
Detectives believe that there may be additional victims of sexual assault by Martinez Orellana that have not contacted police because of immigration status concerns. Montgomery County Police will not ask about anyone’s immigration status to support immigration enforcement.
Detectives are urging anyone who believes themselves to be a victim to contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS(8477). Callers can remain anonymous.
