A man out celebrating his birthday punched a woman as she was waiting for a taxi seriously injuring her.
Lewis McClarence, 32, had been drinking excessively on June 17 last year when he approached the woman, after she had been enjoying an evening out, on Blackburn Road.
Bolton Crown Court heard how McClarence approached appearing to target people at random after arguing with another woman.
Brian Berlyne, prosecuting, said: “He approached the group calling them horrible rats.
“He saw the complainant and threatened to knock her out and shouted at her how much he hated woman like her.”
