So yesterday we had a poor driver have a heart attack at the wheel of his cab in Piccadilly as he was working... I understand he is in stable condition and I wish him well.
I think we are going to hear things like this more and more in the coming year. The pressure of this job because of the expense alone is out of control.
When you have problems be them personal or financial driving a cab for a living is a very very lonely place, believe me, I know just remember nothing is more important than your health nothing.
You all know my feelings on the TXE as a working cab and you see that I get attacked personally because of what I say.
I say and post the things I do because someone has to say how it is I'm sorry you don't like it or want to hear it but it has to be said and the truth is with a cab costing you nearly £100k plus all the other expenses of this job you are going to kill yourself trying to pay for it.
I saw this finance example yesterday and the first thing I noticed was the balloon payment is now over £22k and that's after a deposit and paying £1113.00 a month for 5 years, time you add in insurance and EXs and commissions its ridiculous.
Now I'll get the usual suspects saying all the usual crap. But stop and think for yourselves you know what you can take in a shift without killing yourself and you also know that paying these prices is unsustainable especially when they say we will have another rise in price at the end of January and again in July.
The number one priority is we need a cheaper option and the only way is to look at the conditions of fitness the market needs to open up a bit.
I get we want an iconic-looking taxi but what's the point if you can not afford to do the job it was built for.
I'll finish this how I started and wish the driver a speedy recovery but please don't end up the next one.
