Uber has today (November 4) announced the launch of what they have called “Local Cab” in Cambridge, which gives passengers the option to book trips with a local taxi operator via the Uber app.
Passengers who have the Uber app will be able to open it in town and select the Local Cab option, alongside regular Uber-operated options such as UberX and UberXL.
However, the news hasn't generally been received well by Uber drivers. Mohamed Zafar, himself an Uber driver, based in Huntingdon, has said that Uber's decision to allow CamCab to use the app "doesn't make any sense" and will "impact" his earnings.
