I have, over the last month had a couple of problems with contactless phone problems.
I know that is why many, if not most drivers insist on cah only, even though customers are leaving us daily for online apps, which only accept Card payments.
It came as no surprise that a post a couple of days has shown there is a massive problem in London as well.
The trade in London have sourced a sign, which they are requesting permission in thier Cabs.
I think this is a great idea.
Earlier this week I took a 6 pound job to a Charity here in Hulme.
The transaction failed because it was on his phone and my software (iZettle) requested he input his pin and card in.
He did not have his card with him so the trans failed.
I got paid in the end and so no big deal.
On 2 other previous drops at Man Piccadilly it has happened and under pressure from the Congestion of 2000 Uberks blocking the drop off area. I have wiped my mouth on those occasions and let the customer out of the vehicle.
I suggest that in future when asked to take a card payment, inform the customer they need the card to be present even if they are paying contactless. Be Lucky.
