A car was captured on camera crashing into the back of an unsuspecting taxi on a bypass road near Newport at high speed. Shot by a spectator standing on the central reservation of the A4810 in Llanwern at around 10.30pm on Sunday, it shows the two vehicles make impact with a sickening thud.
A woman can be heard to scream seconds before the collision which sends both cars - a white Volkswagen Polo and a Skoda - careening off the road. A third vehicle - a black Vauxhall Corsa, travelling close behind - also gets caught up in the incident.
The footage - which was uploaded to social media - also includes the aftermath of the crash, with onlookers searching through the twisted wreckage for casualties. Commenting on the clip one person described the cars as having been "absolutely totalled."

Taxi consultation to look at older vehicles being used in Denbighshire Denbighshire’s licensing committee has authorised a consultation to look into allowing older taxi vehicles to continue to be used – if they meet strict maintenance checks. At a licensing committee meeting this week, councillors were asked to consider reviewing the existing maximum age of taxis – for both new and renewal applications of hackney carriage and private-hire vehicles. The existing Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Vehicle Policy was approved at the December 2016 committee meeting and came into effect on 1 July 2017 – although there have been a number of small amendments since. www.rhyljournal.co.uk/news/23055104.taxi-consultation-look-older-vehicles-used-denbighshire/
