Police seize taxi used for drug taking outside Birmingham mosque The abandoned vehicle that was the scene of regular antisocial behaviour has been seized by police after the local community raised concerns
An abandoned taxi that was being used for drug taking and attracted antisocial behaviour outside a Birmingham mosque is set to be crushed.
Birmingham East Neighbourhood Task Force, a proactive team that tackles gun and serious organised crime in parts of the city, said it had seized the vehicle outside Green Lane Masjid, Small Heath, and it would be taken away to be crushed. Police acted after the local community had raised concerns about antisocial and troubling behaviour inside and around the vehicle.
Birmingham East NTF tweeted: "Team 2. Addressed community concerns of vehicle being used for drug taking and anti social behaviour outside Green Lane Masjid, Small Heath. [Vehicle] is being recovered and will be crushed. @greenlanemasjid @saleem_S_Ahmed."
Saleem Ahmed, the centre manager at Green Lane Masjid and Community Centre, responded: " Very grateful to @be_NTF for acting so fast to remove a vehicle, used by drug users, parked outside of @greenlanemasjid & Community Centre. Nice to see some familiar faces from the team who have engaged with us previously. Great work! Thank you!"
