Convoy of balloon-covered cabs heads to New Brighton for annual charity fun dayCabbies take around 50 blind and partially-sighted children out on fun-filled tripTaxi drivers get ready for their annual charity trip to New Brighton, where a fleet of taxis collect children from the Royal School for the Blind in Wavertree before a police escort takes them on a fun day out to Wirral. Kind-hearted cabbies have taken dozens of children to the fairground on their annual charity day out. A convoy of 40 black cabs - many covered in balloons - left Liverpool this morning as they took around 50 blind and partially-sighted children to New Brighton for a fun day. The event, which has been running for nearly 70 years, will see the children visit the Floral Pavilion, the fair and receive a hand-picked present. The Hackney cabs departed from the Royal School for the Blind in Wavertree and St Vincent’s school for the blind and partially-sighted in West Derby at 11am. Young Alex was just one of the many youngsters from the Royal School for the Blind in Wavertree, who were treated to a day out in New Brighton courtesy of Scouse cabbies who decked out their taxis in all manner of colours before a police escort took them on a fun day out to Wirral. www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/convoy-balloon-covered-cabs-heads-13285525
