Dear all,
Earlier today the Licensing Unit was contacted by Greater Manchester Police and advised that 2 Manchester licensed drivers had been convicted of offences in respect of "Perverting the course of Justice" . In both cases the drivers had provided false information in relation motoring offences, following receipt of notices of intended prosecution from GMP
Greater Manchester Police and the Licensing Unit continue to work in partnership on these type of offences, and in this instance the 2 drivers have received 12 and 13 months imprisonment in relation to these offences.
A recent Manchester Crown Court appeal upheld the City Councils decision to revoke a private hire drivers licence in respect of a similar offence .
It may be helpful to forward this information to your members
Thank you
Jenette Hicks Licensing Unit Manager
